𝗡𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗟 𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗗: 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹.
Two workers have been rescued alive after spending nine days trapped inside a tunnel following devastating floods and landslides in Nepal.
The workers were trapped at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project in the Himalayan region after heavy flooding and landslides caused mud, rocks and other debris to block the tunnel.
Rescue operations were launched immediately, with personnel from Nepal’s security forces working around the clock to clear the massive debris and locate the trapped workers.
After days of painstaking efforts, rescuers reportedly heard voices coming from inside the blocked tunnel, providing crucial confirmation that the men were still alive.
The rescue teams intensified their operation and eventually succeeded in reaching the workers and bringing them out safely.
The two rescued men were immediately taken to hospital, where they were admitted for medical evaluation and treatment after spending nine days underground.
Their dramatic rescue has brought enormous relief to their families, colleagues and rescuers, providing a rare moment of hope amid the widespread devastation caused by the floods and landslides.
The disasters have reportedly claimed more than 1,200 lives, while thousands of people remain missing across affected areas.
The successful rescue operation has also renewed hopes that other workers believed to be trapped inside tunnels at hydropower projects across the affected region may still be alive.
Rescue authorities are expected to continue search-and-rescue operations as efforts intensify to locate those still missing and provide assistance to communities affected by the disaster.
