Popular Nigerian social media personality and relationship commentator, Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has publicly apologised to Nigerians following widespread criticism that trailed reports of his recent traditional marriage.

In a viral video circulating across social media, GehGeh admitted that he had failed to live by the relationship advice he often gave to his followers, describing himself as a "hypocrite" and accepting responsibility for the consequences of his words.

Speaking emotionally, he said:

"Nigerians, make una forgive me. I be hypocrite. I no practice wetin I dey preach. For those of you wey my advice spoil your relationship, make una go beg your girlfriend or wife. If dem come beg you, abeg make una take them back. I accept all the blame."

His apology comes barely a day after videos of his traditional wedding sparked intense debate online, with many Nigerians accusing him of contradicting his long-standing relationship teachings. The wedding footage had generated criticism from followers who claimed they ended relationships after taking his advice on dating and marriage.

Before the apology, GehGeh had defended himself on social media, insisting that he never explicitly advised people not to marry and challenged critics to produce any video where he made such a statement.

The apology video has since triggered mixed reactions on Facebook and other social media platforms. While some users praised him for accepting responsibility and urged affected couples to reconcile, others questioned the sincerity of the apology, arguing that public figures should be more cautious about the influence of their messages on followers.
