The controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council (PFIPC) took a fresh turn on Monday following the reported arrest of the father of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, the central figure in an ongoing forgery and impersonation case linked to the council.

Human rights lawyer confirmed the development, alleging that police operatives stormed the Adeniyi family residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and arrested Adeniyi's father along with a family friend who was visiting at the time.

According to Falana, the operation was carried out despite Adeniyi's commitment to appear before the court to answer the charges against him.

"There is no legal basis for substituted arrests. The young man has undertaken to present himself in court, so why arrest his father?" Falana questioned.

Residents of the neighbourhood also claimed that several police vehicles arrived at the family compound before officers allegedly took the elderly man into custody. Witnesses further said Adeniyi's mother was left in a state of shock after the incident and was later moved from the residence by concerned neighbours.

As of the time of filing this report, the had not issued an official statement confirming or explaining the reported arrests.

The PFIPC controversy has attracted nationwide attention following allegations that the council was never legally established despite claims that it operated under the Presidency. The matter has led to criminal charges against Adeniyi, including allegations of forgery, impersonation and other related offences.

The case remains before the court, while police investigations continue.

Falana has repeatedly maintained that the allegations should be resolved through due legal process. He has also argued that neither the Presidency nor any government official has the constitutional authority to exonerate individuals facing criminal allegations, insisting that only the courts can determine criminal liability.

The senior advocate further cautioned against actions that could be perceived as intimidation or interference while judicial proceedings are ongoing.

The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned.
