𝗕𝗬 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗧𝗔 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘,
𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮, 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮

The Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for a nationwide programme aimed at training and empowering 4,000 young Nigerians in electric meter installation as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country's power sector and create employment opportunities.

The initiative will be implemented by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), while successful participants will receive professional certification from the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA).

According to the programme details, beneficiaries will undergo specialised training to expand the nation's pool of certified meter installers, supporting the Federal Government's large-scale electricity meter deployment across Nigeria.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 with a minimum qualification of the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE). The programme is open to both male and female applicants.

Participants are expected to receive a monthly training allowance of ₦100,000, acquire practical technical skills, earn a professional certification, gain access to networking opportunities within the power sector, and may be considered for employment upon successful completion of the training.

The application portal will officially open on Saturday, July 5, 2026. Interested applicants can submit their applications through the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria's official portal at https://pmi.naptin.gov.ng.

The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned.
