𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮, 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮.

Leaders and residents of Ijaghala (Zou-Ala Uba) Community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have reaffirmed that the community is of Ijaw origin and forms an integral part of Gbaramatu Kingdom.

The declaration was made during a press conference held at the Egbegha Town Hall, where community leaders publicly pledged their loyalty and allegiance to His Majesty Oboro Gbaraun II, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom.

According to a statement issued by community representatives, including traditional leaders, youth representatives and women leaders, Ijaghala has for many years been wrongly identified as part of the Ugborodo federated communities.

The leaders maintained that Ijaghala has always been an Ijaw settlement within Gbaramatu Kingdom, stressing that its historical and ancestral identity remains unchanged.

They explained that the community was originally known as Zou-Ala Uba, a name derived from its geographical location among surrounding creeks and waterways. They also noted that the widespread use of the Itsekiri language in the community is a result of longstanding intermarriages between Ijaw and Itsekiri families over several generations.

The community recalled that its elders had previously published its historical background in 2008 to clarify its origins, expressing concern that some individuals continue to associate the community with another ethnic identity despite available historical records.

The leaders further stated that reaffirming their ancestral roots is aimed at preserving the community's cultural heritage and strengthening unity within Gbaramatu Kingdom and the wider Ijaw nation.

They concluded by reiterating their unwavering loyalty to the traditional institution of Gbaramatu Kingdom and pledged continued support for the leadership of His Majesty Oboro Gbaraun II.

The declaration is expected to contribute to ongoing discussions surrounding the historical identity and traditional affiliations of communities within the Warri South West axis of Delta State.

One Feared Dead, Another Injured in Ghastly Accident in Agadagba-Obon By NigerDelta Voice Reporters, Ondo State Correspondent. 24th November, 2025 A tragic motor accident occurred earlier today in Agadagba-Obon, leaving one person dead and another severely injured. The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed, but community members have called for caution on the increasingly dangerous route.
