Tension erupted in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday as suspected armed thugs reportedly invaded a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), throwing the venue into chaos and forcing an abrupt end to the gathering.

The shocking incident occurred at the party’s secretariat where top party members and officials had converged for the meeting, before the sudden invasion by unidentified individuals triggered wild panic among attendees.

Eyewitnesses said the suspected attackers stormed into the venue wielding dangerous weapons, sending party leaders and participants scrambling for safety as they fled in different directions to avoid being attacked.

According to sources within the party, the incident exposed what they described as a serious security breach, as the intruders allegedly gained access to the meeting venue despite the presence of security arrangements.

The violent disruption reportedly brought the meeting to a standstill midway, as fear gripped the gathering and members abandoned the session amid looming threats of bloodshed.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain official reactions from security agencies and party officials proved unsuccessful, as no formal statement had been issued on the incident.
