Popular Nigerian content creator and relationship commentator, Emmanuel Obruste, widely known as GehGeh, has disclosed that the wedding ceremony which recently went viral on social media was not genuine but a carefully planned publicity stunt designed to gauge public reaction.
The clarification follows widespread speculation after videos emerged online showing GehGeh and a woman dressed in matching traditional wedding attire, leading many to believe the outspoken influencer had secretly tied the knot.
The viral clips generated mixed reactions, with fans, critics, and fellow content creators accusing him of contradicting his long-standing views on relationships and marriage. The development also reportedly sparked questions from members of his family, who wondered why they were not invited to the ceremony.
Speaking during an interview with StreamRewind, GehGeh explained that the event was staged as both a promotional campaign and a social experiment.
According to him, the exercise was intended to test public opinion and address what he described as misconceptions surrounding the teachings of his self-styled "GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University."
GehGeh maintained that he has never advised people against marriage entirely. Rather, he said he has consistently advocated polygamy over monogamy, arguing that it offers emotional stability for men.
He claimed that having more than one wife reduces the likelihood of emotional manipulation by a single partner, adding that such a practice aligns with what he described as the traditions of past generations.
The content creator's explanation comes days after the staged wedding ceremony sparked intense debate across social media, with many questioning whether he had abandoned the relationship philosophy that has become central to his public image.
