A tragic boat accident has occurred in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State after a canoe carrying mostly women and children capsized, leaving at least 39 people feared missing.

According to the Jigawa State Police Command, one body has so far been recovered from the scene, while rescue operations are ongoing to locate the remaining passengers.

The police said local divers, emergency responders, and community volunteers have joined efforts to search the water in the hope of rescuing survivors or recovering additional victims.

Although the exact cause of the accident has not yet been established, authorities have launched an investigation while urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with rescue teams.

The incident has thrown the affected community into mourning as families anxiously await news of their loved ones.

More details are expected as rescue operations continue.

One Feared Dead, Another Injured in Ghastly Accident in Agadagba-Obon By NigerDelta Voice Reporters, Ondo State Correspondent. 24th November, 2025 A tragic motor accident occurred earlier today in Agadagba-Obon, leaving one person dead and another severely injured. The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed, but community members have called for caution on the increasingly dangerous route.
