The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the commencement of its 2026 Recruitment Exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across the Commission.
According to the recruitment notice, the exercise is aimed at strengthening INEC's institutional capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics, data management and other critical electoral operations.
Available Positions
INEC is recruiting into the following categories:
- Professional Cadre (Lawyers, Clinical Officers, IT Officers, Engineers, Accountants and other professionals) – Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12
- Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
- Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 07
Qualification Requirements
Applicants for the various positions are expected to possess relevant academic qualifications ranging from National Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor's Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), Master's Degree, and professional certifications where applicable.
Candidates must also possess:
- A valid NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate (where applicable).
- Computer literacy and proficiency in ICT tools.
- Good communication, analytical and organizational skills.
General Requirements
INEC stated that applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens by birth or descent.
- Be medically fit.
- Possess good character with no criminal record.
- Be willing to work anywhere in Nigeria.
- Not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
How to Apply
Interested applicants are required to submit their applications online through the official INEC Recruitment Portal. Applicants are expected to complete the online application form, upload the required credentials and submit their applications before the closing date.
INEC emphasized that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge, warning applicants to beware of fraudsters demanding money for employment.
The Commission also noted that multiple applications by the same candidate will lead to automatic disqualification, while submission of false information or forged documents may attract prosecution.
The application window, as indicated in the notice, runs from Monday, July 20, 2026, to Monday, July 27, 2026.
INEC urged all interested and qualified Nigerians to apply within the stipulated period and ensure they meet all the stated requirements before submitting their applications.
