𝗕𝗬 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗧𝗔 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘,
𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮, 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮

The Niger Delta and Nigeria have been thrown into mourning following the death of former Minister of Science and Technology, renowned academic, and ICT pioneer, Prof. Turner Timipre Isoun.

The family of the elder statesman announced his passing on Thursday, bringing to an end a remarkable life devoted to education, scientific innovation, public service, and national development.
Born on September 2, 1938, in Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Prof. Isoun was a distinguished Professor of Veterinary Medicine who served as Nigeria's Minister of Science and Technology between 2000 and 2007 under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

During his tenure, he played a leading role in advancing Nigeria's science, technology, and information communication sectors.
He is widely celebrated as one of the architects of the country's ICT and space technology revolution, providing the leadership that led to the successful launch of Nigeria's first satellites, NigeriaSat-1 and NigComSat-1, placing Nigeria firmly on the global space technology map.

Prof. Isoun also made significant contributions to higher education as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, now Rivers State University, where he helped lay the foundation for one of Nigeria's foremost technological institutions.

His legacy further includes his instrumental role in the establishment of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), which has become the cornerstone of Nigeria's digital economy and information technology policy implementation.

Beyond his national accomplishments, Prof. Isoun remained a respected leader within the Ijaw nation. He was widely admired for his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Niger Delta. He contributed immensely to the struggle for the creation of Bayelsa State and served as Chairman of the Central Zone of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), where he championed the interests of the Ijaw people.

His death marks the end of an era and represents a great loss to Bayelsa State, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria.

As tributes continue to pour in from political leaders, academics, and stakeholders across the country, heartfelt condolences have been extended to his family, the people of Odi, the Government and people of Bayelsa State, and all Nigerians mourning the passing of one of the region's most accomplished sons.

One Feared Dead, Another Injured in Ghastly Accident in Agadagba-Obon By NigerDelta Voice Reporters, Ondo State Correspondent. 24th November, 2025 A tragic motor accident occurred earlier today in Agadagba-Obon, leaving one person dead and another severely injured. The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed, but community members have called for caution on the increasingly dangerous route. Local authorities are expected to begin investigations into the incident.
