𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝘁 27 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀

𝗕𝗬 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗧𝗔 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘,

𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮, 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮.

A father, Lawal Hamisu, has approached a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking an order compelling his 27-year-old daughter, Fatima, to get married.

The matter came before the court on Tuesday through Hamisu's lawyer, H.B. Debo, who argued that Fatima had completed her Higher National Diploma (HND) but had yet to settle down despite attracting several admirers.

According to the father, he wants the court to direct his daughter to present a suitable suitor so that marriage arrangements can be made. He also alleged that Fatima's mother had influenced the children against him.

Responding before the court, Fatima maintained that she was not in any serious relationship. She explained that although she had admirers, none had formally proposed marriage to her.

Presiding Judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, described the case as sensitive, noting that it involved a dispute between a father and his daughter. He said the court would hold separate discussions with both parties to better understand the issues before making any decision.

The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further proceedings and a ruling.
