Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has unveiled an unconventional technology-driven governance agenda, stating that if elected President in the 2027 general election, he would deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) to oversee Nigeria's finance sector and rely on drone technology to transform the country's defence architecture.

Sowore made the declaration in a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, insisting that modern technology, rather than political patronage, should be at the heart of governance.

According to him, Artificial Intelligence would help eliminate corruption, waste, and human interference in the management of public finances by ensuring transparent, data-driven decision-making.

He also reiterated his long-held position that drone technology should play a central role in Nigeria's security operations, describing it as a more effective and efficient alternative to conventional defence structures.

"The future of governance is technology, not patronage," Sowore stated.

The AAC presidential flagbearer explained that AI-powered financial management would improve accountability, while drones would enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering, rapid response, and precision in tackling insecurity across the country.

Sowore has consistently advocated digital governance, institutional reforms, and the adoption of emerging technologies to improve public administration.

His proposal follows similar remarks made earlier this year during appearances on Channels Television and Arise Television, where he argued that Nigeria should prioritize the deployment of drones instead of investing heavily in traditional fighter jets.

He maintained that drones are less expensive to operate, require fewer logistical resources, and can provide real-time intelligence for security agencies.

Sowore further criticized the existing military command structure, alleging that senior military officials spend too much time in Abuja instead of coordinating operations from the frontlines.

He proposed the establishment of a centralized command-and-control system powered by drones and Artificial Intelligence to monitor criminal activities, support troops with logistics, conduct aerial surveillance, and improve emergency response during security operations.

The proposal comes amid growing global discussions on the use of Artificial Intelligence in governance, public finance, and national security, with experts highlighting both its potential benefits and the need for strong human oversight and ethical safeguards.
