Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate and former Labour Party presidential candidate,  H.E Peter Obi, has delivered a deeply reflective message on the uncertainty of life, cautioning against premature political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Obi remarked that he may not even be alive to witness or contest the 2027 elections, stressing that no human being can guarantee tomorrow.

His statement was not presented as a prediction of his death, but as a reminder of life's uncertainty and a call for leaders to place greater emphasis on solving Nigeria's pressing problems rather than becoming consumed by political calculations for future elections.

"We don't even know who will be alive in 2027," Obi said in essence, urging public office holders to devote their energy to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians today.

The former Anambra State governor lamented that millions of Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship, rising insecurity, unemployment, and declining living standards, insisting that these challenges deserve immediate attention.

According to him, the true measure of leadership is not endless political maneuvering but the positive impact made on the lives of citizens while entrusted with public office.

Obi emphasized that governance should be driven by service, accountability, and compassion, rather than an obsession with the next election cycle.

His remarks have since sparked widespread reactions across the country, with many Nigerians describing the statement as a sobering reminder that power is temporary, life is unpredictable, and every opportunity to serve the people should be treated with urgency and responsibility.
