Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the payment of a 13th-month salary for civil servants in the state as part of measures aimed at improving workers’ welfare and boosting productivity.

The governor made the announcement during the 2026 Public Service Week Dinner and Awards Night held in Asaba, where he also approved a threefold increase in cash rewards for outstanding public servants.

Oborevwori said the decision reflects his administration’s commitment to motivating workers and strengthening the public service, noting that effective reforms can only succeed when employees are properly supported and valued.

According to him, the theme of the event, “Reforms, Resilience and Results,” aligns with the administration’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on development and improved service delivery.

The governor praised Delta State civil servants for their dedication and professionalism, stating that their commitment has played a key role in the implementation of government programmes across various sectors.

He assured workers that welfare-related matters would continue to receive attention, adding that his administration recognises the importance of having a motivated workforce.

“When I see any memo concerning the welfare of civil servants, I always approve it because I understand the importance of having over 60,000 workers standing with this administration,” Oborevwori said.

The governor also disclosed that the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters had been completed and would soon be commissioned after the completion of internal roads. He added that official vehicles had been purchased for the 11 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.

He further revealed that the salaries of the Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries had been increased by over 50 per cent, while affordable housing initiatives for workers remain a priority of the administration.

Oborevwori urged senior civil servants to uphold integrity, professionalism and due process, describing the public service as the foundation for continuity in governance.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Dr. Mininim Oseji, commended the governor for his support towards improving workers’ morale and performance.

The event featured the presentation of awards to outstanding civil servants, including Mr. Abuga Dennis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, who was honoured as Best Civil Servant Farmer, while other workers were recognised for punctuality and exemplary service.

The governor assured Deltans that his administration would continue to prioritise workers’ welfare while implementing reforms to strengthen the state’s public service.

One Feared Dead, Another Injured in Ghastly Accident in Agadagba-Obon By NigerDelta Voice Reporters, Ondo State Correspondent. 24th November, 2025 A tragic motor accident occurred earlier today in Agadagba-Obon, leaving one person dead and another severely injured. The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned.
