Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved automatic employment into the state public service for seven recipients of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) National Award, alongside a cash reward of ₦1 million each.

The governor announced the reward package during the presentation of awards to outstanding students, teachers and other education achievers held at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor's Office, Akure.

According to Aiyedatiwa, the gesture reflects his administration's commitment to rewarding excellence, promoting human capital development and retaining exceptional talents within the state.

He commended the beneficiaries for distinguishing themselves through hard work, discipline, innovation and dedication, noting that they have brought pride and honour to Ondo State at both national and international levels.

The governor described the awardees as worthy ambassadors of the Sunshine State whose achievements should serve as inspiration to younger generations.

Aiyedatiwa also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening the education sector through the OUR EASE development agenda. He said the government remains focused on improving classroom infrastructure, expanding digital learning, recruiting and training teachers, promoting technical and vocational education, enhancing workers' welfare and creating safer learning environments.

A total of 67 individuals received awards during the ceremony. The beneficiaries included seven NYSC National Award recipients, 54 students who scored above 300 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), students who represented Ondo State and Nigeria in international academic competitions, as well as two outstanding teachers from the public and private school categories.
