The media aide to former Kaduna State Governor, , has alleged that the former governor is suffering from a worsening eye condition while being held in the custody of the .

In a statement issued on Friday, El-Rufai’s spokesman, , claimed that despite repeated complaints about his deteriorating health, the anti-corruption agency has failed to provide the former governor with necessary medical care.

The aide further claimed that an official identified as Henry informed a family member that El-Rufai had declined medical treatment, an assertion he described as false.

“The ICPC continues to treat him as though he has no rights and does not deserve basic care while in custody,” Adekeye said.

El-Rufai was arrested in Abuja earlier this year over allegations of corruption, abuse of office, and money laundering linked to his tenure as Kaduna State governor between 2015 and 2023.

The charges reportedly include allegations of receiving severance benefits beyond legal entitlements, fraud, and money laundering.
