The Alema of Warri Kingdom, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, has criticised Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, accusing her of interfering in matters concerning Warri and Delta State.

Speaking during an event in Warri on Friday, the traditional ruler expressed displeasure over what he described as the First Lady’s involvement in issues affecting the Itsekiri people and the broader Warri area.

Uduaghan argued that the First Lady should focus her attention on national challenges confronting Nigerians rather than engaging in local political and ethnic matters. He also questioned her role in addressing pressing security concerns across the country, including incidents of kidnapping.

According to the monarch, many families continue to suffer the effects of insecurity in several parts of Nigeria, and he challenged the First Lady to demonstrate greater concern for victims and their relatives.

The royal father further stated that the Office of the First Lady does not confer executive authority, insisting that matters relating to the presidency should remain within the constitutional responsibilities of elected officials.

He also expressed frustration over what he described as continued interference in Warri affairs, noting that some stakeholders in the area had grown dissatisfied with recent developments surrounding the ongoing disputes affecting the region.

The comments come amid heightened tensions and debates over political and ethnic issues in Warri Federal Constituency, where concerns have been raised by various groups regarding representation and administrative decisions affecting the area.

Neither the First Lady nor the Presidency had publicly responded to the monarch’s remarks as of the time of filing this report.
