𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮, 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO) as part of efforts to transform Nigeria’s healthcare system through digital innovation and improved data management.

The Presidency also announced the appointment of Dr. Obi Adigwe as the pioneer National Coordinator of the newly created office.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the NHTDAO will operate under the Office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare and will serve as a strategic platform to strengthen coordination within the nation’s health sector.

The Presidency clarified that the office would not replace existing health agencies but would support and enhance their functions.

“It will reinforce, not replace, the existing statutory functions of relevant departments and agencies,” the statement noted.

The new office is expected to harmonise public and private healthcare institutions, establish digital health standards, and implement the National Digital Health Architecture approved by the National Council on Health in November 2025.

Dr. Obi Adigwe, who previously served as Director-General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), will lead the implementation of the initiative.

During his tenure at NIPRD, Adigwe supervised several health technology projects, including the management of a ¥300 million nanotechnology grant, an AFREXIMBank-supported Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Training Facility, and the development of a roadmap for an €18 million European Union grant.

He also gained recognition for leading a scientific evaluation of the COVID Organics herbal preparation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To provide policy direction for the new office, the Federal Government has constituted a steering committee co-chaired by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, and the Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mr. Olaniyi Yusuf.

Other members of the committee include the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, the Special Adviser to the President on Technology and Digital Economy, heads of key health agencies, and representatives of state commissioners of health from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The Presidency said the initiative is designed to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to a secure, interconnected, and data-driven healthcare system capable of improving health outcomes across the country.

One Feared Dead, Another Injured in Ghastly Accident in Agadagba-Obon By NigerDelta Voice Reporters, Ondo State Correspondent. 24th November, 2025 A tragic motor accident occurred earlier today in Agadagba-Obon, leaving one person dead and another severely injured. The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed, but community members have called for caution on the increasingly dangerous route. Local authorities are expected to begin investigations into the incident.
