The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Taiwo Adegoroye, has has reportedly directed the immediate closure of all public and private schools within the council area following rising security concerns.

Adegoroye reportedly announced the decision during a press briefing in Akure, describing the move as a precautionary measure aimed at protecting pupils, students, teachers, and other education workers from potential security threats.

According to the council chairman, the directive became necessary in response to growing fears over the safety of lives and property within the local government area.

He, however, clarified that candidates currently participating in national examinations would still be allowed access to their schools strictly for examination purposes.

Adegoroye warned that any school management found violating the closure order would face sanctions in line with existing laws.

He also appealed to parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and discourage unnecessary movement during the period of the shutdown.

The council boss assured residents that the local government was collaborating with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to strengthen surveillance and improve security across the area.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, Adegoroye stressed that the safety and well-being of residents remained a top priority.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, noting that community cooperation is essential in tackling security challenges.

LG Chair Dismissed Report.

However as at the time of filling this report, the LG chairman has dismissed the report, urging residents to disregard the reported closure of schools by his office. However he cautioned residents to be security conscious.
