The Presidency has called for decisive legal action against social media activist and influencer VeryDarkMan over a controversial audio recording allegedly containing false and inflammatory claims against top government officials and state institutions.
A viral audio was said to have been allegedly shared by the activist, and it suggested, Tinubu said Insecurity will continue since he lost votes in the 2023 election.
According to sources within the Presidency, the viral audio allegedly accused certain government figures of plotting political intimidation, manipulating security agencies, and attempting to silence critics ahead of future political activities in the country.
Officials described the recording as a “fabricated and dangerous piece of disinformation” deliberately designed to provoke public anger, create distrust in government, and incite tension among Nigerians.
Security agencies, according to presidential insiders, have already launched investigations to trace the origin of the audio, identify those responsible for circulating it, and determine whether artificial intelligence or digital manipulation tools were used in producing the recording.
The Presidency warned that the spread of fake audio materials, manipulated voice recordings, and digitally altered content represents a growing threat to national security, democratic stability, and public peace.
Government sources further stressed that freedom of speech must not be abused to spread falsehood, damage reputations, or trigger unnecessary panic among citizens.
The controversy has since generated heated reactions online, with supporters and critics of VeryDarkMan debating the authenticity of the audio and the wider dangers of misinformation in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital space.
Political observers say the incident could mark a major turning point in the Federal Government’s crackdown on fake news, AI-generated propaganda, and online disinformation campaigns ahead of future elections and political contests.
