Fresh tension and political uncertainty have continued to trail the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) direct primaries across the Niger Delta region, with reports of betrayals, shocking outcomes, and fierce incumbency battles emerging from several federal constituencies.

Party insiders say the direct primaries have produced unexpected developments in various House of Representatives constituencies across Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Cross River, and Ondo States, as final results remain under collation in many areas.

Several serving lawmakers and politically influential aspirants are reportedly facing strong resistance from grassroots party members, with some incumbents allegedly struggling to maintain dominance amid rising internal opposition, shifting alliances, and growing influence from governors’ political structures.

In multiple constituencies, allegations of betrayal and last-minute political realignments have continued to dominate discussions, especially after some aspirants reportedly lost support from key political leaders and local stakeholders previously believed to be loyal to them.

Observers monitoring the exercise disclosed that disagreements over delegate accreditation, voting procedures, and ward-level coordination created tension in some locations, while emergency consultations among party leaders continued behind closed doors into the night.

In Rivers and Bayelsa States, complaints reportedly surfaced over attempts to influence outcomes in certain federal constituencies, with aggrieved supporters accusing rival camps of political intimidation, strategic manipulation, and coordinated efforts to weaken incumbent lawmakers seeking return tickets.

Delta State has also witnessed intense political drama, with reports of growing friction between camps loyal to incumbent federal lawmakers and political blocs aligned with the sitting state leadership. Some constituencies reportedly experienced sharp divisions after disagreements over candidate endorsements and control of party structures.

In Ondo State, political observers pointed to increasing tension between incumbent representatives and factions believed to be loyal to the state government, following disagreements over candidate preferences and influence within the APC structure ahead of the general elections.

The ongoing primaries have also been overshadowed by recent public altercations and open confrontations involving supporters of incumbent House of Representatives members and factions linked to sitting governors in parts of the Niger Delta and South-South political corridor.

In some areas, verbal exchanges, accusations of betrayal, and open criticism from party loyalists have reportedly exposed widening cracks between federal lawmakers seeking re-election and influential state political structures attempting to consolidate control ahead of future political battles.

Meanwhile, APC stakeholders in Edo and Cross River are said to be closely monitoring the collation of results amid fears that disputed outcomes in some constituencies could trigger petitions, legal battles, and deeper internal divisions within the party.

Party officials have maintained that the primaries are ongoing and that certified results will only be released after the completion of collation, verification, and reconciliation procedures where necessary.

The party has also reportedly cautioned members of the public and supporters against relying on unofficial results currently circulating across social media platforms and political blogs. According to party officials, several lists and alleged outcome sheets being shared online are fake, incomplete, or entirely unauthorised.
Officials insist that only results released by recognised APC electoral committees and authorised party channels should be considered authentic, urging aspirants and their supporters to remain calm while the collation process continues.

Across social media platforms and political circles, reactions have remained intense as supporters await official confirmation of winners in the various federal constituencies across the Niger Delta region.
