The faction of the People Democratic Party, (PDP) led by the FCT Minister, H.E Nyeson Wike has announced former Cross River State governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza in Abuja, by former Benue State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Presidential Primaries Collation Committee.
According to Ortom, the emergence of Senator Onor followed consultations and voice votes conducted among party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Senator Onor, who belongs to the PDP faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, emerged as the sole presidential aspirant after purchasing his expression of interest and nomination forms earlier this month.
Speaking during the collation and presentation of the primary results, Ortom said the committee had engaged extensively with stakeholders and party members before arriving at the consensus decision.
Following the announcement, the PDP leadership presented Senator Sandy Onor with a certificate of return and the party’s flag as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Officials of the party including National Commissioners Abdullahi Zuru and Prof. Rhoda Habor Gumus, monitored the exercise at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
