The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has deployed an additional 15 scholarship beneficiaries to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies as part of its foreign scholarship scheme.

The beneficiaries, who departed on Thursday as part of the first batch of the programme’s May 2026 deployment, are expected to pursue master’s degree programmes in disciplines including biomedical science, oil and gas engineering, data science, cyber security, software engineering, automotive engineering, and communication, culture and media studies.

Speaking during a pre-departure briefing held at the PAP headquarters in Abuja, the Administrator of the programme, Dennis Brutu Otuaro, said several of the beneficiaries earned the scholarship after graduating with first-class honours from their undergraduate studies.

He noted that each scholar was presented with a laptop to support their academic work abroad. Otuaro attributed the expansion of the programme’s local and foreign scholarship initiatives to the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the supervision of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

According to him, the scholarship scheme aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is aimed at promoting peace, stability and development in the Niger Delta region.
He said the PAP remained committed to investing in the education and capacity development of young people from the region, stressing that the beneficiaries were expected to return after their studies to contribute to national and regional development.

The PAP Administrator urged the scholars to be good ambassadors of Nigeria while studying in the UK and to remain focused on their academic pursuits.

“I am unapologetic about the large number of scholarships that we are giving to young Niger Deltans for studies within and outside the country. I believe that we are doing the best for tomorrow,” Otuaro stated.

Earlier, the Head of Education at PAP, Dr. Charles Ariye, provided orientation and guidance for the students ahead of their departure.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ikiere Victor, who will study Mechanical Engineering at Coventry University, thanked the Federal Government and the PAP leadership for the opportunity, assuring that the scholars would make Nigeria proud.

The statement was issued on May 14, 2026, by Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
