The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing his political moves as opportunistic.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement posted on X, labelled Obi a “political rolling stone,” alleging that he frequently switches political parties in pursuit of an uncontested presidential ticket.

According to Morka, Obi has consistently avoided internal party competition, instead seeking what he described as an “easy path” to the presidency. He further accused the former Anambra State governor of lacking commitment to building and strengthening political parties.

Morka also referenced Obi’s movement across multiple parties over the years, suggesting a pattern of political inconsistency, and concluded by describing him as a “political drifter.”

Obi had earlier announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress, citing internal crises and divisions within the party. He stated that the ongoing disputes had distracted the party from focusing on pressing national issues.
Clarifying his decision, Obi noted that his exit was not driven by personal disagreements with key figures such as David Mark and Atiku Abubakar, both of whom he said he holds in high regard.

The former governor maintained that he is not desperate for political office, emphasising that his primary concern remains the welfare of Nigerians and the pursuit of effective governance.

Despite leaving the ADC, Obi reaffirmed his belief that Nigeria can achieve competent and compassionate leadership, expressing optimism about the country’s future.
