Key political stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta South Senatorial District have endorsed Senator Thomas Joel-Onowakpo for a second term in the 2027 general elections, alongside endorsements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The endorsement was made on Friday during a declaration rally held at Oleh Township Stadium in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, where party leaders and supporters gathered in large numbers.

Among those present was the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, who described the move as a strategic step toward consolidating APC’s political strength in the district.

Other prominent figures at the event included the House of Representatives member for Burutu Federal Constituency, Julius Pondi; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor; Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Prince Johnson Erijo; APC Delta South leadership figures; and representatives of the South-South Development Commission.

Local government chairmen across Delta South also attended, including officials from Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North, Patani, Isoko South, Warri South, Warri West, and Warri North councils.

The motion to endorse Senator Joel-Onowakpo, President Tinubu, and Governor Oborevwori was moved by Prince Johnson Erijo and seconded by Tonye Timi, Executive Director of Corporate Services at the South-South Development Commission. The resolution was subsequently approved by a voice vote presided over by Speaker Emomotimi Guwor.

Speaking at the event, Dr Otuaro said Senator Joel-Onowakpo had performed credibly in his first term, adding that his re-election would help consolidate ongoing legislative gains in the district.

He also reaffirmed support for President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and Governor Oborevwori’s administration under the “M.O.R.E Agenda” (Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security), stating that both leaders deserved second terms based on performance.

According to him, APC stakeholders in Delta South were united ahead of the 2027 elections and committed to mobilising widespread electoral support for the party across the state.

The statement was signed by Mr Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, dated May 1, 2026.
