President has emerged as the presidential candidate of the for the 2027 general election after winning the party’s nationwide direct primary with a reported 10,999,162 votes.
The primary election, conducted across the APC’s 8,809 wards in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, allowed registered party members to vote directly for their preferred presidential aspirant under the party’s direct primary system.
Tinubu defeated his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, by a wide margin, recording overwhelming victories in states where results were announced. In several states, Osifo reportedly polled either no votes or minimal figures as party officials supervised the collation process nationwide.
In Lagos State, the president secured 4,996 votes in Ward L2, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, while Osifo failed to record a vote. Tinubu described the exercise as a reflection of the APC’s internal democratic process and commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the primary.
Results from other states also showed strong support for the president’s re-election bid. In Osun State, Tinubu reportedly polled 100,880 votes, while he secured 389,197 votes in Akwa Ibom State. Ogun State equally delivered 322,485 votes in his favour as party leaders hailed the exercise as orderly and transparent.
Additional results from Rivers, Adamawa and several other states further underscored Tinubu’s dominance within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the Presidency announced that the APC Presidential Primary Elections Committee would formally present the president with the party’s Certificate of Return and presidential flag at a ceremony scheduled to hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The event is expected to attract APC governors, members of the National Assembly, National Working Committee officials and other key stakeholders of the party.
Tinubu’s emergence as the APC flag bearer has now set the stage for what political observers believe could become another highly competitive presidential contest in 2027.
