The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of teachers’ transfers across the state, citing the need to ensure stability and continuity in academic programmes.

The directive was contained in an official circular dated April 22, 2026, and addressed to all Acting Education Secretaries, with copies extended to headteachers, principals, and other stakeholders in the basic education sector.

According to the Board, the decision takes effect immediately, meaning that all ongoing and future transfer requests will no longer be processed until further notice. The circular emphasized that all teachers are to remain in their current duty posts.

The Board explained that the move became necessary to maintain consistency in teaching and learning activities, as well as to strengthen the delivery of its academic programmes across schools in the state.

“Kindly note that all current assignments remain in place and any request for transfer will not be processed,” the statement read.

The directive was signed by Amadasun Blessing, Director of Shared Services, on behalf of the Executive Chairman.

This development is expected to impact teachers seeking redeployment, as well as school administrators managing staffing arrangements across Edo State.
