The South-West National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Isaac Kekemeke, has dismissed reports suggesting that a court order exists to halt Tuesday’s Ondo State congress, insisting that the party has not received any official directive to that effect.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting at the APC state secretariat in Akure, Kekemeke described the alleged court injunction circulating on social media as unfounded, stressing that the party would not rely on what he termed “social media court orders.”
According to him, the national secretariat of the party has not issued any communication directing the suspension of the exercise, and preparations for the congress remain on course.
Kekemeke urged members of the National Working Committee panels to disregard online reports portraying the Ondo APC as divided, maintaining that disagreements arising from personal ambitions are natural in party politics and should not be exaggerated into a crisis.
“There can only be one leader at a time,” he said, reaffirming Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the leader of the party in the state.
He further reiterated that the APC in Ondo has consistently adopted consensus in electing its executives since 2014 and has never conducted ballot-based elections for state party offices.
The Ondo State APC congress is expected to hold Tuesday, with officers emerging through a consensus arrangement.
