Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has restated its commitment to driving socio-economic development in the Niger Delta, expressing strong interest in ongoing stakeholder engagements around the proposed Escravos–Warri Road Project.
The oil and gas operator, which runs a joint venture with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), said it is actively collaborating with key stakeholders, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Delta State Government, to better understand the scope and implementation framework of the project.
During a joint visit by CNL and NDDC officials to the Delta State Government on March 12, 2026, in Asaba, CNL’s Director and Chief Operating Officer for Nigeria and Mid-Africa Region, Segun Kuteyi, underscored the company’s position on the strategic importance of the road project.
Kuteyi noted that the proposed Escravos–Warri Road, when completed, would significantly enhance connectivity, stimulate economic activities, and unlock new development opportunities across the Niger Delta region.
He further emphasized the need for strong institutional synergy, stressing that sustained collaboration with the Delta State Government throughout the project lifecycle would be critical to its success.
According to him, CNL is committed to a multi-stakeholder approach involving government institutions, host communities, and private sector partners to ensure optimal project delivery. He identified the NDDC, as the project initiator, as a pivotal stakeholder in the process.
Highlighting funding possibilities, Kuteyi pointed to Nigeria’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme (RITCS) as a viable framework capable of incentivizing private sector participation in critical infrastructure projects.
He reaffirmed that CNL would continue to work closely with government and industry stakeholders to advance the development of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector while contributing meaningfully to the broader national economy.
