The Admiralty Lawyers’ Society of Nigeria (ALSN) has announced plans to host a three-day professional course on Maritime Security, Maritime Safety and the Blue Economy.
The programme is scheduled to take place from March 18 to March 20, 2026, at Rhocharls Hotels and Suites Ltd, located in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. daily.
According to the organizers, the training is aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of critical maritime law and governance issues while equipping legal practitioners and stakeholders with practical insights into maritime industry operations.
As part of the programme, participants will also embark on a guided tour of ports and terminal operators to provide practical exposure to maritime operations.
The course will cover key areas including salvage, pilotage, maritime safety and security, arrest and release of ships, bills of lading and international conventions, charter parties, the Blue Economy Index, and ocean governance, among other topics.
A distinguished faculty of legal scholars and industry experts is expected to lead the sessions. They include Justice Ifiok Ukana (Rtd), Lucky Iribhogbe Warioka, S. C. Dike, Kingsley Ekwere, Abayomi Akindele and Angus Obinna Chukwuka.
Course fees have been fixed at ₦25,000 for post-call lawyers and private practitioners, while virtual participation costs ₦20,000.
The ALSN encouraged interested participants to register early to benefit from the training and engage with leading experts in the maritime and legal sectors.
