The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian Army, has unveiled its nationwide education sponsorship screening dates for children of security personnel who died in active service as part of welfare and support initiatives for affected families.

The programme is designed to ensure access to quality education at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels for the children of officers and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting families of fallen heroes and ensuring no child is left behind in their educational aspirations.

Screening Schedule Per Geopolitical Zones

The verification and screening exercise will be conducted across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) beginning in late February through March 2026:

Venue: Headquarters 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
South-East Zone — February 28 – March 3, 2026
Venue: Headquarters 82 Division, Enugu, Enugu State.
South-West Zone — March 5–8, 2026

According to official notices, applicants must present a comprehensive set of documents during screening, which includes:
A handwritten application letter listing the names of the children.
Admission letters (including JAMB admission letters where relevant).
Most recent report cards or academic records.
Birth certificates and Part II orders.
Death certificate and Part II order of the deceased personnel.
Bank details, Bank Verification Number (BVN), and contact information.

The Federal Government’s education sponsorship scheme forms part of broader welfare measures aimed at cushioning the hardships faced by families of fallen security officers. Access to education is viewed as a key pillar in providing stability and opportunity for the next generation of beneficiaries, helping them pursue academic goals without financial barriers.

Officials have urged eligible applicants to prepare early and bring all necessary documentation to their respective zonal screening centres. For further enquiries, the Nigerian Army has provided contact information through official communication channels.
