Bonny Kingdom stood still in pride and applause as the Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, rewarded academic brilliance with a life-changing scholarship package worth ₦3 million.

In a landmark gesture on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Council Secretariat in Bonny, Chairman Pepple presented a ₦2 million scholarship award to Master Thankgod James Green — a brilliant indigene of Bonny and student of Bonny National Grammar School — who emerged as the 2026 Best Science Student in Rivers State.

In recognition of his outstanding performance and qualification to represent the state at the prestigious Presidential Science Competition in Abuja, the Chairman further approved an additional ₦1 million to cover logistics and travel expenses — ensuring the young scholar flies the Rivers flag without financial burden.

Speaking during the presentation, Chairman Pepple described the young genius as a shining light for Bonny and Rivers State.

“Our son has made the Local Government proud,” he declared, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to education, youth empowerment, and talent development.

The Council Boss emphasized that investing in education remains one of the strongest pillars of his administration, promising that Bonny’s future will be built on knowledge, innovation, and opportunity.

In a move set to transform grassroots academic engagement, Chairman Pepple also unveiled plans to introduce a Bonny LGA Students’ Quiz Competition — an initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing more exceptional talents in science and other academic disciplines.
Observers say the initiative could spark a new wave of intellectual renaissance in the island LGA.

The event was attended by top government functionaries, including:
Warisenibo Tamunotonye Adolphus Jumbo, Secretary to Bonny LGA
Mr. Soparagha Jumbo, Chief of Staff
Mr. Sofiri Bennett Pepple, Supervisor for Education
Mrs. Dabota M. Pepple, Zonal Director, Rivers State Schools Board
Other senior government officials

Master Thankgod James Green’s journey from classroom excellence to state champion and national contender stands as a powerful reminder that greatness can rise from any community when talent meets opportunity.

With Bonny rallying behind him, all eyes now turn to Abuja — where the young science prodigy will battle for national glory.

Bonny has spoken. And the future looks brilliant.
