In a bold move to empower young people and drive the clean-energy transition in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced plans to roll out a comprehensive training programme on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion across the nine states of the region.

The initiative, which targets youths between the ages of 18 and 35, is designed to equip participants with practical, in-demand technical skills in alternative fuel technology, positioning them for employment and entrepreneurship in Nigeria’s evolving automotive and energy sectors.

According to the Commission, the programme will be open strictly to indigenes of the nine Niger Delta states, with priority given to candidates who possess relevant academic or technical backgrounds. Eligible applicants include holders of SSCE/WAEC with science-related subjects, OND in science disciplines, Trade Test Certificates, and other recognized technical qualifications in automotive, mechanical or allied trades. Fresh graduates of engineering courses from within the Niger Delta are also encouraged to apply.

The NDDC described the training as part of its broader youth empowerment and capacity-building agenda aimed at reducing unemployment while promoting cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Interested and qualified applicants are advised to apply online via the official NDDC skills portal: skills.nddc.gov.ng.
The Commission urged eligible youths to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that the programme represents a strategic investment in the future of the Niger Delta and its next generation of skilled professionals.
