The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 Police Constables following an overwhelming nationwide response that has seen over 400,000 applications submitted so far.

According to the Commission, the online recruitment portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026, instead of the earlier deadline.

The extension, the PSC explained, became necessary after a comprehensive review of application data revealed wide disparities in state-level participation. While states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded very high numbers of applicants, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra showed significantly low turnout.

The Commission stated that the decision is aimed at ensuring equitable national representation in the recruitment process and providing equal opportunity for qualified Nigerians across all states of the federation.

Eligible applicants, particularly from states with low application figures, are strongly encouraged to seize the extended window and apply through the official recruitment portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

In addition, the PSC called on State Governments, Local Government Councils, sociocultural organizations, religious institutions, community leaders and other key stakeholders to intensify public sensitization efforts and mobilize eligible youths within their areas to participate in the exercise before the new deadline.
The Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force reiterated their commitment to a credible, transparent and merit-driven recruitment process, assuring Nigerians that due process will be strictly followed at all stages.

The statement was signed by
Torty Njoku Kalu,
Head, Protocol and Public Affairs,
Police Service Commission, Abuja.
