The Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe Traditional Council has slammed a two-year suspension on Mr. Alake Bewei of Egbesubiri following allegations of child defilement, in a disciplinary action that has sent shockwaves through the Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe Kingdom.

In a formal sanction letter released by Palace Media via its official Facebook platform, the Council confirmed that the action followed investigations and recommendations by the Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe Chieftaincy Committee, which were subsequently approved by the Agadagba-in-Council.

According to the statement, the disciplinary process was triggered by a petition dated November 27, 2025, which was thoroughly reviewed and formally considered by the traditional authorities. The final report was submitted to the Agadagba-in-Council on December 30, 2025, in line with established traditional and administrative procedures of the Kingdom.

The sanction letter stated unequivocally that Mr. Bewei has been suspended from the Chieftaincy Institution for a period of two (2) calendar years, effective December 30, 2025. During the suspension, he is strictly prohibited from being addressed as a chief or wearing, displaying, or parading any chieftaincy regalia within or outside the Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe Kingdom.
In a further decisive move, the Council announced that Mr. Bewei has been removed from his position as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Agadagba, with immediate forfeiture of all privileges, benefits, and emoluments attached to the office, effective from the same date.

The sanction letter also imposed a total ban on Mr. Bewei from entering the Palace premises, underscoring the gravity of the allegations and the seriousness with which the traditional institution has handled the matter. Palace Media emphasized that the measures are administrative and disciplinary actions exercised within the powers of the traditional authority over chieftaincy affairs, pending any further developments outside the traditional framework.

Copies of the sanction letter were formally circulated to key traditional authorities, including His Imperial Majesty, Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu Esq. (JP, FCAI, LL.M), Opukutu III, the Agadagba and Paramount Ruler of Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe, as well as His Highness Joseph Ebikinmoh Feku, the Tarabiritoru of Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe.
The Palace Media reaffirmed that all directives take immediate effect from December 30, 2025, marking one of the most severe disciplinary actions taken by the traditional council in recent times.
