Otuaro Hails Tompolo, Says Honorary Doctorate Crowns a Life of Peace, Service, and Sacrifice
The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has poured glowing encomiums on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, as he received an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) from Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, Delta State.
The honour, bestowed during the institution’s 4th–7th combined convocation ceremonies, was described as more than a ceremonial gesture but a laurel earned through years of unwavering service, peacebuilding, and investment in human development across the Niger Delta.
Dr. Otuaro, in his tribute, portrayed the recognition as “a crown placed where it naturally belongs,” noting that Tompolo has consistently walked the path of dialogue, community engagement, and non-violence, even when the tides of conflict threatened to drown the region.
According to him, Tompolo’s efforts in sustaining peace in the creeks, steadying the ship of national security, and fostering an atmosphere conducive to economic stability, remain “footprints on the sands of time.”
Beyond peacebuilding, Otuaro highlighted Tompolo’s philanthropy and compassion, describing them as the kind of virtues that light up a community the way a lighthouse guides lost sailors home.
He praised the Niger Delta leader's investment in education and youth empowerment, noting that Tompolo’s donations to various institutions stand as “brick-and-mortar testimonies of a man whose heartbeat echoes the dreams of his people.”
“Tompolo’s good heart, generosity, and love for humanity distinguish him as a leader of rare character,” Otuaro declared, adding that the honour bestowed by Edwin Clark University is both timely and fitting.
The PAP Administrator extended appreciation to the university for recognising a personality whose influence continues to resonate across the region, urging other institutions to “celebrate those whose hands build, whose voices soothe, and whose actions uplift society.”
Dr. Otuaro concluded with prayers for divine guidance, long life, strength, and wisdom for High Chief Ekpemupolo, as he continues to serve the Niger Delta and Nigeria with dignity, courage, and compassion.
