Ondo South APC Leaders Endorse Tinubu for Second Term, Insist Aiyedatiwa Should Lead 2027 Campaign
Political leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo South Senatorial District, including commissioners, legislators, council chairmen, party chairmen and other key stakeholders, have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government Field in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
Senatorial Chairman, Prof. Simidele Odimayo, said the leaders based their support on the President’s achievements within his first two years in office. He cited several ongoing federal projects in Ondo State, including the expansion of the Ore–Ondo–Akure road, the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, the dualisation of the Akure–Ado Ekiti road, and the establishment of a Federal Teaching Hospital in Akure.
Odimayo added that commissioners from the district used the meeting to brief party members on the progress recorded in their various ministries under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Aside from endorsing the President, the stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Aiyedatiwa, describing him as the undisputed leader of the APC in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa Highlights Achievements Across Ondo State
Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented at the meeting by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, reeled out several ongoing and completed projects across the 18 local government areas.
He listed key initiatives including:
- Construction of concrete walkways across riverine communities in the Southern Senatorial District
- Ongoing development of the Ilaje Deep Sea Port
- Re-establishment of the School of Nursing in the Southern Senatorial District
- Revitalisation of 102 Primary Healthcare Centres
- Statewide Hepatitis B screening and eradication campaign
- Major health upgrades in Akure, Ikare, Ore and Okitipupa
- Proposed 100-bed hospital in Igbokoda and 50-bed hospital in Irele
- Full onboarding of Ondo State Emergency Medical Services into NEMSAS

Aiyedatiwa assured residents that his administration remains committed to sustainable development, inclusive growth and improved quality of life for all.
Stakeholders Call for Aiyedatiwa to Lead Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign in Ondo
In their communique, the leaders urged President Tinubu to formally designate Governor Aiyedatiwa as the leader of his 2027 re-election campaign in Ondo State.
They argued that the APC constitution clearly establishes the sitting governor as the leader of the party in the state, adding that having more than one leader would be counterproductive.
“We want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make it a matter of compulsion that Governor Aiyedatiwa leads his campaign in Ondo State in the 2027 general elections,” the leaders said.
Council chairmen, Hon. Jide Akinfe (Irele) and Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye (Odigbo), affirmed the commitment of party structures to replicate the massive support that delivered victory for the APC in the November 16, 2025 governorship election.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategic Communications, Hon. Allen Sowore, added that the party’s constitution does not permit dual leadership, insisting that Aiyedatiwa remains the legitimate APC leader in Ondo State.
