A Nigerian adventurer popularly known as @Real-Emmiwuks, currently on a historic Nigeria-to-USA bicycle journey, has raised an urgent plea for support as he prepares to cross the Mauritanian desert under life-threatening conditions.
According to Emmiwuks, he crossed into Mauritania today but is now confronted with a severe power and communication crisis. All three of his power banks have failed—likely due to rain exposure—leaving him with only one weak device that lasts less than 30 minutes. He warned that the desert terrain makes power and communication essential for survival, safety, and documentation.
He disclosed that his limited funds were exhausted in Senegal while repeatedly applying for a Mauritanian visa, which was denied twice before finally being approved on the third attempt. With no option to turn back, he pressed forward despite dwindling resources.
“To survive this desert journey, I urgently need strong power banks, a reliable power storage system beyond regular power banks, internet/data that can last at least a week, cooking gas, and basic food items I can carry,” he stated.
Emmiwuks admitted that although planning was done, financial limitations have now left him vulnerable. He emphasized that he is not asking for luxury but for basic survival needs, noting that desert nights are cold, roads are lonely, and loss of power means loss of communication, safety, and the ability to document the journey.
He appealed to the public to assist directly or help tag individuals and organizations that can offer urgent support, stressing that timely help could determine how safely he crosses this dangerous phase of the journey.
The Nigeria-to-USA bicycle expedition has continued to attract attention across Africa and beyond as a bold symbol of endurance, tourism promotion, and African resilience.
