Fuel-Laden Tanker Explodes in Odigbo, Ondo State.

A fuel tanker loaded with petroleum products has exploded in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, causing panic among residents and motorists in the area.

The explosion reportedly occurred on Monday, when the tanker was conveying fuel along a busy route in Odigbo. Witnesses said the incident triggered a loud blast followed by a raging inferno that engulfed the tanker, forcing people nearby to flee for safety.

Although details remain sketchy as of press time, local sources disclosed that the fire spread rapidly due to the highly flammable nature of the fuel. The extent of casualties or property damage could not be immediately confirmed.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and security personnel, were said to have moved to the scene to contain the situation and prevent further escalation. Traffic was also disrupted as authorities cordoned off the area to ensure public safety.

Residents have been urged to stay away from the vicinity while rescue and containment operations continue.

The deceased, identified simply as Help , reportedly lost his life after the vehicle involved in the incident somersaulted multiple times. Another occupant, identified as Philip Ojuri , sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, throwing the victims from the vehicle as it overturned. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed, but community members have called for caution on the increasingly dangerous route.
