The Opobo Kingdom has formally announced the passing of its revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, King (Dr) Dandison Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, the Amayanabo and Natural Ruler of Opobo Kingdom.

According to an official statement issued by the Kingdom, a four-day period of mourning has been declared in honour of the late monarch. As part of the mourning rites, all business and commercial activities within Opobo Kingdom have been suspended for four days, with the directive taking effect from this morning.

The Kingdom described the late Amayanabo as a distinguished traditional ruler whose reign was marked by wisdom, peace, and unwavering commitment to the unity, culture, and development of Opobo Kingdom.

Further announcements regarding burial arrangements and official funeral rites are expected to be communicated by the appropriate traditional authorities in due course. The entire Opobo Kingdom, the Niger Delta region, and the nation at large mourn the transition of a royal father and cultural icon.
