The Ondo State Government has approved the appointment of High Chief Japhet T. Ibory and Mr. Shadrack Kuete as members of the Ondo State Customary Court, strengthening the state’s judiciary with seasoned and community-tested personalities.

High Chief Japhet T. Ibory, a retired school principal and the Agwor of Agwobiri in the Arogbo Traditional Council, brings decades of administrative experience, moral authority, and deep-rooted knowledge of customary law and traditions to the bench. His appointment is widely seen as a recognition of his integrity, leadership, and longstanding service to both education and traditional governance.

He was appointed alongside Mr. Shadrack Kuete, a respected veteran known for his vast experience and sound judgment, whose inclusion is expected to further enhance the quality of adjudication at the customary court level.

The appointments are in line with the state government’s commitment to reinforcing the customary justice system, ensuring effective dispensation of justice, and promoting the rule of law through the integration of individuals with proven competence and understanding of indigenous legal principles.
Stakeholders have expressed confidence that the new appointees will uphold the dignity of the judiciary, interpret customary laws with fairness, and contribute meaningfully to the administration of justice in Ondo State.
