Donald Trump: Tension in Terrorist Camps as Reports Emerge of Possible US-Led Airstrike in Nigeria

Panic has reportedly spread through Boko Haram and ISWAP enclaves in Nigeria’s North-East following speculations of a planned foreign-assisted airstrike aimed at dismantling major terrorist bases in the region.
Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media Thursday alleged that former U.S. President Donald Trump, who remains an influential voice in American security and foreign policy circles, had “called for decisive action” against terror networks in Africa.
However, no official confirmation has been issued by the United States government, and Nigerian defence authorities have urged the public to disregard unverified claims circulating online.
A top military source, while confirming that surveillance activities have intensified in the North-East, maintained that any foreign involvement would only occur under bilateral military cooperation.
“There is no evidence that any airstrike has been ordered by the U.S. We are aware of online rumours, but operations against insurgents remain under the control of the Nigerian Armed Forces,” the source clarified.
Residents in parts of Borno and Yobe states reported increased aircraft movement in the past 48 hours, fuelling further anxiety among locals and insurgents alike.
The Defence Headquarters is expected to issue an official statement in the coming hours to address the growing tension.
